At every festive season, there is always short video clips produced by big corporations with the budget they have for their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Instead of the usual "Happy Chinese New Year" and lots of prosperity messages, one of these short videos carries with it a message from the heart of one deaf person to the hearts of all who watch it.

o lolooooooo lol oooooo

The video clip I am referring to is oooo produced by Maybank that makes us think about the disabled community in our midst. Do watch it, and see how a disabled person feels about the festive season. Spare a thought for them this New Year!

Meanwhile, here is our usual greeting,

IN 2008, I decided to start a small business as a media consultant because I wanted to embark into writing more books.

So far, I have been able to author over 17 books for both the commercial sector as well as friends who commissioned me to write their books.

I believe God has given me the gift as a writer and I believe I have at least another ten productive years aghead.

Over the past 30 years, since I started writing for New Straits Times and Malay Mail, I realise that God was putting me through the school of journalism.

There are so many other books which are relevant to the local context that I would like to write and publish, but due to a lack of budget, this has not been possible.

For example, there are many local issues in the churches that need to be addressed, and I am willing to work on them if there are business enterpreneurs willing to commission me to write these books.

Family Commitments

This is because when God gave me the passion to write, I also have to take care of my bread and butter as I have two growing up teenagers who will be entering university soon. I need to make sure that we have enough to provide for their education.

If there are Christian businessmen who are willing to partner and commission me to write books full time, or provide me the opportunities to serve on a retainer basis as a media or marketing consultant, I would be able to spend more time focusing on writing more books.

You feel something needs to be done to reach out the unsaved, but you do not have the gift of communication, or the time to write, perhaps, you can commission me to write for you.

One book which I am currently planning to work on is a compilation of local testimonies by people of different age groups. This is commissioned by an ordinary sister-in-Christ who is willing to fund the project so that I can complete it. The book will be available free via PDF so that it can be viralled around.

Let me know if you are interested to work on any worthwhile projects and I would be more than happy to work on them.

A new book is in the making. The above design of the book cover is still in its draft format. The text will appear like this:

It is more interesting to read a novel than a first person's testimony. A first person account may be more credible, but the attention grab is more when it is rewritten as a non-fiction story.

Here is an example of how it is done:

Testimony 22 Jan 2024 Mon

I remember when I was twelve years old, I started to search for something. I do not know what I was searching for. I cycle here. I could not find it. I cycle there. I still could not find it.

I remember after I had accepted Christ, I suddenly realized that I have stop looking. My heart was satisfied. I was no longer looking for anything.

I was Form Three in 1973. A school friend invited me to attend the I.S.C.A. (Inter School Christ Ambassado

r) meeting in her church. It was on Tuesday 2.30 p.m. Since I was free, I agreed to go. It was the first time that I go to a church.

During the end of the meeting, the preacher asked everyone to bow their heads and close their eyes. Then he asked if anyone wanted to accept Christ as their personal saviour. He said that you can give Jesus a try. If Jesus is not real, you can leave him. So, I put my hand up. Then, he asked me to stand up. Then, he asked me to come down to the front.

Rewritten:

She met Jesus at 15 (click to read)

KWAN Li Ming was twelve, when she realised something was missing in her life. At such a tender age, living in Meru, Klang together with her parents and six brothers and one sister, Li Ming wondered where she could find this purpose in her life.

“I did not know what I was searching for, but I knew I was searching for s-o-m-e-t-h-i-n-g,” she recalls, after nearly half a century ago. “I cycled here, but I could not find what I was looking for; I cycled there, but I still could not find it.”

Even though this was back in 1970, yet the same question was asked by the curious young mind from SMK (Perempuan) Bukit Kuda, Klang.

Nothing could satisfy her questions about life until one day when she was in Form 3. She was invited to attend the ISCA meeting at Glad Tidings Klang near her home. ISCA stands for the Inter-School Christ Ambassador.

“It was then that I met Jesus,” she says. “After I accepted Him as my personal Saviour, I suddenly realized that I had found what I was looking for. I stopped looking for that missing element in my life. It was like that peg that filled the hole in my heart perfectly. My heart was satisfied. I found what I was looking for!”

Looking back to that moment in 1973, Li Ming recalls it was a Tuesday afternoon. The clock on the wall showed it was 2.30pm. “Since I was free that afternoon, I agreed to attend the meeting when invited by my friend from school. It was the first time that I attended a church, and from then on, I have always experienced God’s goodness in my life.”

At the end of the meeting, when the preacher asked everyone to bow their heads and close their eyes, he asked if anyone wanted to receive Christ as their personal Saviour. I cannot recall the preacher's name but he was a tall, soft spoken Chinese man.

On the platform, he said, “Young people, you can give Jesus a try. If Jesus is not real, you can leave Him. But, if He is real, you will never regret meeting Him today.”

Without hesitation, Li Ming raised her right hand. "Then, the preacher invited those of us who raised our hands to stand up. I was the only one that put up my hand. Shortly after that, he invited me to come to the front where he led us to pray a simple prayer, “Dear Jesus, ….”
